William Ormandy, 97, of Beckley left the love of his life, Jean, with a broken heart after 71 years of marriage on Sunday, October 13, 2019.
Born August 7, 1922 in Beckley, he was the son of the late William and Lydia Sheets Ormandy. Bill was the owner of Doy Mobile Homes. He was a 70 year member of Memorial Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for 53 consecutive years. He was an amateur ham operator and instructor. Bill was a deer and coon hunter, sports enthusiast and WVU fan. He was a member of Grandview Country Club and Black Knight Country Club. His passion was golfing and spending time with his family. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corp.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, William Ray Ormandy; daughters, Linda Jean Beaver and Peggy Ann Meadows; grandson, Tony Ormandy and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife Jean Blevins Ormandy; sons, David (Joyce) of Walland, TN, Bill Mark (Nancy) of Clayton, NC, James Reed (Rebecca) of Mt. Hope, Daniel Howard (Michelle) of Shady Spring; sister, Hatty Wickline; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and beloved caregiver and family friend, Resa Mann.
Bill will be dearly missed by friends and family.
Services will be 1 PM Friday, October 18, 2019 at Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Harris, Dr. Charles Bright, Dr. James Boyd and Rev. Jim Franklin officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 11 am until service time.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Dr, Beckley, WV 25801
