Wesley Robert Beckett

Wesley R. Beckett, 93, of Crab Orchard, West Virginia, passed away June 8, 2023.

Wesley was born, September 27, 1929, to the late Claire and Moda Beckett also of Crab Orchard, West Virginia.

Wesley was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in 1947. He was a lifelong member of the Crab Orchard Baptist Church.

Wesley started out at an early age in the coal industry alongside his father at the old Crab Orchard tipple. He then started plastering with his brothers until returning to the coal industry until his retirement as a preparation plant mechanic with Westmoreland Coal Co. at Eccles, WV.

He was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers Gertrude, Raymond, Edward, Mason, Jo Ann, and Jimmy. He is survived by brothers William “Bill” and Dempsey.

He is survived by his wife of almost sixty-nine years, Phyllis Beckett; two sons, Mike (Marie) and Steven Beckett; one daughter Susie Beckett. He is also survived by grandchildren, Michael Beckett, Kaleb Beckett, Jason Cook, Katie Sutphin, Patrick Blevins, Courtney Boothe and great grandson, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday June 12, 2023 at 12 PM in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dewey Lowe officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to service.

Pallbearers will be Tim Bellamy, Joey Beckett, Kaleb Beckett, Patrick Blevins, Dean Beckett, Michael Beckett
