Virginia Mae Simmerman

Virginia “Gallaher” Simmerman, 89, of Beckley passed away Friday, October 16, 2015 in Southern Pines, NC. Born October 17, 1925 in Norton, WV, she was the daughter of the late William Roy and Orpha Gladys Bowers Gallaher. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John; son, Gary; daughter, Dianne Lynn; sisters, Pauline King, Martha Halsey, Mildred Gallaher, Freda Cole and brother, Paul and William Gallaher.
Virginia was a legal secretary for Oppie Hedrick for many years and was also a secretary for Beckley Child Care Center. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church for over 70 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Menefee and husband Mike of Southern Pines, NC; sons, Steven Ray Simmerman and wife Emily of Beaver, WV, John Keith Simmerman and wife Cindy of Beckley, WV, Gregory Alan Simmerman and wife Angie of Charleston, WV; grandsons, Kevin Simmerman (Erica), Cooper Simmerman, John Menefee (Juli), Jeff Menefee (Jen), Jim Menefee (Mya); granddaughters, Sarah Menefee, Taylor Simmerman and Riley Simmerman.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at First United Methodist Church, 217 S. Heber St., Beckley, with Rev. Rick Waller officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Kevin and Cooper Simmerman, John, Jeff and Jim Menefee, nephews, Dana and Gary Cole and John Kenneth Simmerman.
