Terry Joe Brooks, 77, of Beckley WV, passed away October 28, 2021 at the VA Medical Center in Washington DC following a short illness. Terry was born June 6, 1944. He was the son of the late Vaughan and Regina (Bales) Brooks. Terry was a veteran and had served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Currituck. He received the Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Medal. He was a retired machinist and had worked 30 years at Lincoln Electric in Euclid, Ohio. He also worked at the Beckley Walmart for several years after moving to Beckley. He made lasting friendships through the years. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed watching and feeding the animals. He loved treasure hunting at the flea market but rarely bought for himself. He would give to others and that is where he found his joy. He spent a lot of time outdoors. He liked to work with his hands. You could always find him working or repairing something. Always there to lend a hand, and his hands were strong. Terry was of the Christian Faith, loved the Lord and loved gospel music. His favorite song was Michael Combs “Drinking From My Saucer.” The song describes Terry‘s life. Terry was blessed in his life with a wonderful family and many, many friends. Terry was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Brooks; by grandsons David and Nicholas; great grandson Killian and great grandchildren Samuel, Claire, Katie and Joseph.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years,,Gail Brooks; by daughters Norma Sweet (Mike Thomas) Eastlake, OH, Lennie (Karl) Gandolf of Chardon, OH, Regena (Jeff) Szuter of Concord, OH, Nancy Karen (Zelko) Cvitkovic of Willowick, OH, Christen Devito of Lyndhurst, OH, Terri-Jo (Dan) Martin of Huntsburg Township, OH, Tracy Vass of Beckley, WV, Melinda Jarrell (fiancé Michael) of Charlotte, NC; 29 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren; sisters Lee Odum of Beckley WV, Theresa Bolen (Dale) of Crab Orchard WV, Regina Joyce Fox of Beckley WV; brothers Randy Brooks (fiancé Maryann) of Prosperity, WV, Tim Brooks (Dianna) of Beckley, WV and Jim Jones (Sue) of Mentor, OH and Brother-in-Law Steve Bolen (Pam) and lifelong Friend Scott Jennings and numerous nieces and nephews that he loved and adored. Services will be 1:00 PM Monday, November 8 at Crosspoint Church 110 Crescent Road, Beckley WV with Pastor Vondie Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens on Robert C Byrd Drive, Beckley WV. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM prior to the service.
