Teddy Carlyle Ford, 72, of Shady Spring, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2013. Born September 8, 1941 in Coal City, he was the son of the late Theodore and Juanita Martin Ford. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Albert Cole.
Teddy was a manager for the Verizon phone company, a Ham Radio operator and enjoyed going to flea markets where he would buy antique clocks and radios to fix up and tinker around with. He loved taking weekend trips to North Carolina and Tennessee as often as he could and was a member of, along with his sisters, The Fords, a local touring gospel trio who made 2 albums together. Teddy was a veteran of the US Army and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his son, Tim Ford and wife Dawn of Bristol, CT; grandsons, Jonathan and Alex Ford of Bristol, CT; companion, Belinda Watkins of Shady Spring; his first wife, Martha Harmon Ford of Prosperity; second wife, Ann Dickson of Beaver; sisters, Jeanette Phillips and husband Bill of Daniels and Annabell Cole of Denver, CO; brother, Danny Ford of Daniels and numerous other family.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM, Friday, November 22, 2013 at Calfee Funeral Home with Pastor Delvin Elwell officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
