Shirley Tate Pitre

Shirley Tate Pitre, 84, of Beckley, passed away Wednesday, July 08, 2015 at Bowers Hospice House. Born May 4, 1931 in Sophia, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Quincy and Beatrice Stone. Besides her parents, Shirley was also preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas Tate and Vincent Michael Pitre and a great-great grandson, Jacob Camarillo.

Shirley was a LPN having worked at The Veterans Area Medical Center and Appalachian Hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Raleigh County and former member of St. Francis de Sales.

Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Edens; son, Thomas Tate; 3 stepchildren, Mary Jo Pitre, Nancy Pitre and Susanne Pitre; 3 sisters, Ilene Poland, Joyce Mounts and Melva Wood; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11AM on Friday, July 10, 2015 at Sunset Memorial Park.

The family would like to give special thanks to her granddaughters, Shannon, Skyler and Samantha for caring for their grandmother during her last days.
