Sarah Nell Rasco Kelly, 91, formerly of Piney View, WV and Hernando, FL, Passed away peacefully December 30, 2008 at her home in Charleston, SC following a short illness.
Born March 21, 1917 in Clay County, AL, she was the eldest daughter of the late Marvin T. Rasco and Maude Jacobs Rasco of Crab Orchard, WV. Nell was a member of the Piney View Community Church. She and her late husband, Gayle owned and operated Kelly’s Esso service station and garage in Piney View, WV for many years. After moving from Hernando, FL to Charleston, SC in 1998, she became an active member of the Island Quilters Guild, The Quilting Divas and RSVP Senior Volunteer Program. Using her talents she handmade quilts for her children and grandchildren.
Nell was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Fred Gayle Kelly; her sister, Edna Louise Pack; brother, James T. Rasco, killed in WW II; grandsons, Michael Love and James Alfred Truman.
Surviving are two daughters, Gaynell Love Bartleson and husband Mark of Charleston, SC, Peggy Truman and husband Alan K. of Alderson, WV; one son, Robert M. Kelly and wife Maxine of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Carrie Hackett and husband Curtis, Kimberly Jackson and husband Matthew, Tracie Geiger and husband Bobby, Christopher Love and wife Shannon, Keith Bartleson and wife Vickie, Denny and Patrick Love all of Charleston, Kevin Bartleson and wife Lori, Kim Whittaker and husband Donnie of Summersville, SC, Deborah Krantz and husband Rick of Orlando, FL, Alan Truman and wife Susan of Los Altos, CA and Tim Truman and wife Lisa of Indianapolis, IN. Also surviving are 20 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum A where the committal will be conducted by Charles Kinder. A reception will follow at the Holiday Inn on Harper Road.
