.Samuel Oscar Bird, II, 82, of Beckley, formerly of South Charleston, WV, passed away July 30, 2016. Born February 26, 1934 in Charleston, WV, he was the son of the late David Moses and Florida Lilly Bird.
Samuel was a retired geologist for the state of Virginia. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Beckley and had been a resident of Beckley since 1992. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Bennett Bird in 1989.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church, Beckley with Dr. Robert Stoddard officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 217 S. Heber St., Beckley, WV 25801 or Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Dr., Beckley, WV 25801.
