Ruby Holdren Adkins, 87, of Crab Orchard, formerly a 30 year resident of Shelbyville, IN and the Kanawha Valley, passed away Monday, October 1, 2012 at Bowers Hospice House.
Born August 3, 1925 at Sprague, WV, she was the daughter of the late W.D. Holdren, Sr. and Ethel Lilly Holdren. Ruby was one of 10 siblings. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Luther C. Adkins; 4 sisters, Ruth L. Scott, Geneva L. Summerville, Charlotte L. Meador, Evelyn Pettry and 3 brothers, W. D. Holdren, Jr., Arthur E. Holdren and Ted Holdren.
Survivors include her brother, C. Arnold Holdren of Tuscaloosa, AL; sister, Pauline Harrell of Beckley, WV; 2 special nephews, Dennis Johnson of Rainier, WA and James Johnson of Denver, CO.
Following her wishes she will be cremated and her ashes will be joined with her late husband. There will be no visitation.
