Rose Marie Shorter

Rose Marie Shorter was born October 4, 1955. She as the daughter of the late Alvin and Ruth Collins Sturgill.

Rose was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who never met a stranger. Her home church was Princeton Church of God, Princeton, WV . She would also go to churches with sisters and other relatives such as Glen White Church of God, Mabscott Christian Church, Hill Crest, and Pierpont Baptist Church. She was a high school graduate and a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Rodney (Terri) Shorter of South Carolina, Scotty Lee (Linda) Shorter of Princeton, WV; daughter, Heather (Jimmy) Richardson of Bluefield, WV; two sisters, Patricia (Rex) Hampton, Beckley WV, Sandra Meador of Mullens, WV and a brother Roger (Pam) Sturgill of Princeton, WV; aunts, Dian Shorter and Bonnie Collins of Michigan, Mary Burgess of Tennessee, Marie Collins of Crab Orchard, Jean Martin of Mabscott, WV; uncles, Harry (Kimmi) Sturgill of Midway, WV, Richard (Drema) Sturgill of Mullens WV, nieces, Trina Hampton, Cinda Meador, Tammy Sturgill, Sara Sturgill, Loretta Sturgill; nephews, Rex Allen (Vanessa) Hampton, Jason Shorter; grandchildren, Brittany Shorter of Lashmeet, WV, Addison Poole of Princeton, WV, Stephanie Keith and Blake Kosinar of Lashmeet WV, Kristopher Lanier of Oceana, WV, Michael Shorter of Princeton, WV, Aaya Shorter of Princeton, WV, J.J. Richardson of Bluefield, VA, Isaiah Richardson of Bluefield, VA, and many more step grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the Sturgill Cemetery in Pineville. Friends may visit with the family from 2:30 p.m. until service time on Tuesday at the cemetery.
