Ronald Gene Deck, 87, passed from his earthly home to his heavenly home Tuesday, November 28, 2017.
Born in Glen White, WV on November 21, 1930, he was the son of the late Ennis Ira Deck and Rose Belcher Deck.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Winnie Mae Farthing Deck.
Gene was a graduate of 1949 Woodrow Wilson High School as well as Beckley College and Coyne Electrical School. He served in the US Navy aboard the U.S.S. Bristol for four years. He worked for National Mine Service Company for 30 years, traveling all over the United States installing communication equipment for the mining industry.
Gene was a member of Crab Orchard Baptist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class.
Gene lived a long, happy and full life raising a family and was blessed with five grandchildren and 2 great grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Ina Sanderson, and his brothers, James Ray Deck and Elliot Ira Deck.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Patty(Jackie) Clemens of Cool Ridge and his sons David(home) and Ronnie(Becky) Plant City, FL; Granddaughter, Ashley Clemens Cool Ridge and Grandsons Stephen(Melissa) Plant City, FL, Tony(Carolyn) Clermont, FL, Thomas(Jessica) Titusville, FL, Kevin(Emily) Burnsville, MN, great-grandsons Rhys and Connor Deck as well as his nephew Robert Deck and family, nieces Linda Leinius (Michael), Carol McKean, Leisha Cernuto (Dwayne), Melanie Smith. In addition, his sisters in law Eunice Deck Crab Orchard and Shirley Bower Crab Orchard.
Gene cannot be remembered without mentioning how he loved riding his motorcycle with his friends. He rode hundred of thousands of miles and loved every minute!
The family would like to thank everyone at the VA who helped take care of Gene.
A wake will be held at Calfee Funeral Home, Beckley on Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 6-8 pm.
Services will be held at Crab Orchard Baptist Church on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 2 pm.
Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Crab Orchard Baptist Church Building Fund are appreciated.
