Robert Boyd Lowry

Robert Boyd Lowry, 95, of Beckley, died Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at his residence. Born May 1, 1913 in Roxalia, Monroe County, WV, he was the son of the late Stepehn R. and Nina Wylie Lowry. Robert worked in the state store in Sophia for more than twenty years and was a former electrician assistant for the Raleigh County Board of Education for 7 years. He served with the U.S. Navy during WW II on an LST as a Motor Machinist’s Mate Second Class in the Atlantic and Pacific. He was a member of the Oak Grove Christian Church. Besides his parents Robert was preceded in death by his wife Pauline Norman Lowry, sisters; Allene Frame, Jane Elmore and husband Dewey, Beatrice Belcher and husband Byron and brothers; Dale Lowry and wife Georgia, George Lowry and wife Edythe; Madison Lowry and wife Evelyn and Stephen Lowry, Jr.

Brothers:Raymond Lowry and wife Norma of Reedsville, WV
Jim Lowry and wife Alma of Daniels, WV
Special Nephew:David Frame and wife Dahlia of Sophia
Sisters-in-law:Marie McRoberts of Pikeview, NC and Sally and Bill Burdiss of Goldsboro, NC
Numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2008 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Ken Overdorf and Rick Absher officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Satruday.
