Rita K. Svonavec

Rita Kay Rakes Svonavec, 65, of Beckley, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2024.

Born December 2, 1958 in Beckley, she was the daughter of Bertha A. Farley Rakes and the late Arthur J. Rakes.

Rita attended Cross Point Church. She always loved camping, hiking, kayaking, and riding her Harley on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Her most Loved companion Jasmine a Papillon. 

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Greg and sister, Tina Davis.

She is survived by her daughter, Robin Franco (Kevin) of Shady Spring, WV; grandson, Andrew Franco, her pride and joy, of Shady Spring, WV; mother, Bertha Rakes of Beckley, WV; brothers, Patrick Rakes of Beckley, WV, Gary Rakes (Sally) of Terrell, NC; sister, Diana Herring (Mike) of Tavernier, FL; step-son, Gregory Svonavec, Jr of Somerset, PA; sisters-in-law, Theresa Woy (Dave) of Somerset, PA, Angela Kuhn (John) of Somerset, PA, Judith Walker (Ron) of Mechanicsburg, PA; brother-in-law, Timothy Svonavec (Beth) of Somerset, PA as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

We ask in lieu of flowers donations to Bowers Hospice or Cross Point Church. 

In Honoring her wishes there will not be any service.
