Phyllis Mary Lowery

Phyllis M. Lowery originally from Beckley, WV suddenly passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021, after 85 wonderful years. Phyllis could often be found side by side with her father Arthur Lowery, owner of Lowery's Shoe Shop. Now known as Lowery's Boots and Shoes, Phyllis was proud that the store has remained open since 1928, through three generations of family. Known for her "West By God Virginia" wit, Phyllis could always be counted upon for the comfort, guidance, and love that touched everyone she met. A traveler throughout much of her life, including two stints in the Army, Phyllis would always come back to Beckley as home. Phyllis was the best example of what a person could hope to be: a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a patriot who loved her country and was not afraid to show it.

She is survived by her children, Julie (Michael Tibor) Galassini, V. Elaine (Joseph) Marigliano, Candi (Doug) Jackson and Valerie (David) Gilbert; 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Jeanette Lowery, and nephews who still reside in Beckley and surrounding area.

She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Violet Lowery, and siblings, William and Robert Lowery.

A celebration of her life will take place with Visitation, Friday, October 8, from 12-1pm, at Calfee Funeral Home, 800 S. Oakwood Ave., Beckley, WV. A graveside service will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
