Mr. Phillip Fondale, Jr., 83 of Beckley, WV passed away Thursday, October 25 after a sudden illness.
A celebration of his life will be held at 12:00 pm Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Father Paul Wharton, V.F. officiating. A Rite of Committal will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Zachary Fondale, Seth Fondale, Justin Ballengee, Jeff McCallister, Frank Holt, Brad Dawson and Wayne Tolbert.
Mr. Fondale was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. Mr. Fondale served in the US Army and was a member of the third infantry division. He attended butcher school while stationed in Germany. After returning home from service he worked for A &P Supermarket where where he retirwd after 30 years.
Mr. Fondale loved gardening and sharing his harvest with his family and neighbors. He had a knack for growing garlic and believed in it's medicinal benefits. He was the son of Italian immigrants and carried on their traditional family values. He lead his life quietly, but full of simple joy and modest pride.
Mr. Fondale is survived by his son Phillip and his wife Victoria. of Daniels, WV; daughter, Phyllis Fondale of Charlotte, NC, grandsons, Phillip Zachary Fondale and Seth Austin Fondale. Sister Ann Cody if Rock Hill, SC.
He was preceded in death by his parents Phillip and Dominica Fondale of Mabscott, WV; wife, Shirley Fondale; sister Mary Interdonado of Mabscott, WV, sister Nellie Fondale of Mabscott WV, brother Tony Fondale of Mabscott, WV, Joe Fondale of Crab Orchard WV, John Fondale of Sacramento, CA and Sam Fondale of Beckley, WV.
