Peggy Alice Cochran, 66, of Beckley, passed away Friday, January 7, 2011 in a Beckley hospital following a short illness. Born August 25, 1944 in Sumter, SC, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Esther Ardis. Peggy was a former bookkeeper for Injection Services in Winston-Salem, NC and most recently was a tour guide at the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine. She was a member of the Maple Fork Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher. Peggy enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, G. Howard Cochran, daughters; Lynn Vasquez and Barbara Mathis both of Rock Hill, SC, son, John Cochran of Beckley, step-daughters; Shelia Cherney of Raleigh, NC, Jane Cochran of Sand Branch, Judy Nunnley of Bakersfield, CA, step-son, Gilbert Cochran, Jr. of Cyclone, WV, brothers; John, Walter and Joe Ardis, all of Sumter, SC, and Don Ardis of Winston-Salem, SC, sister, Shirley Nesbitt of Sumter, SC
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 10, 2011 at the Maple Fork Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Bowyer officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Mausoleum C. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, January 9, 2011 at the church.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
