Orpha Genivee Genny Wood

Orpha Genivee “Genny” Tabor Wood, 89, of MacArthur passed away Sunday, February 22, 2015. Born November 9, 1925 in Barger Springs, WV, she was the daughter of the late Whitley Harmon and Lillie Viola Parker Tabor. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Paul Wood; son, Randal Paul Wood; brother, Whitley Harmon Tabor, Jr.; sisters, Mary Anna Gwinn and Bessie Viola Rudisell and grandson-in-law, Bradly Jo Williams.
Genny graduated from Mark Twain High School and was in the first graduating LPN class at the Raleigh County Vocational School. She worked at Raleigh General Hospital and Beckley Hospital. She then went to work for Dr. Grover Hedrick retiring after 27 years. Genny enjoyed gardening, quilting and bowling. She loved her grandkids and her church family at Crab Orchard Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a compassionate friend, always generous with her love, her time and talents.
Genny is survived by her son, Greg Wood and his wife Mandy; grandchildren, Nathaniel Paul Wood and wife Samantha, Whitney Ann Williams Wood and Alaina Brooke Wood; great-granddaughter, Ryan Paige Wood and her sister, India Bohmer Rudisell.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2015 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Sisson officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
