Feb 17, 2025
Jeep Groff of Nimtz, suddenly passed away while at home on Feb 17, 2025. Jeep was at home with his wife, Vicki and beloved dog Sam.
Jeep worked 35 yrs. As a heavy equipment operator in the coal industry and loved his job. Jeep LOVED working….. When he would come home from the coal mines, he would work on his farm with his cattle and in the hay fields for hours. Jeep to this day still has his 1973 farm tracker, that still runs. Jeep also, had a love for the outdoors. He was always hunting, fishing or camping with Vicki and Sam. Jeep was a past member at Gassaway Baptist Church in Gassaway and current member at Faith Community Church in Beckley.
March 23, 2013, Jeep suffered a “widow” maker heart attack. Jeep did recover from this medical event, however, was forced to retire from the coal mines. Retiring at this time was devasting to Jeep, he was used to working 24/7. He did learn to adjust and found hobbies to enjoy. He spent his time mowing, enjoying the outdoors and when inside working puzzles with Vicki. In the past few years anywhere, Jeep went he had his dog “Sam” with him. Sam was his world, and everyone knew it.
Two of Jeep biggest enjoyments are his granddaughter’s. Konner Hope and Kennedy Faith, they can do no wrong in Poppy’s eyes. He enjoyed spending every minute with them. He loved watching Konner play soccer and Kennedy dance. When the girls were younger, he enjoyed taking them camping and teaching them how to fish. Their Poppy is very proud of the young women they are today. He will now be watching over them.
Another enjoyment in his life was attending his small group, “Wisdom Seekers”. He loved the special friendships that he made and ALL the food that was shared during their meetings. This group made a huge impact on Jeep’s spiritual walk. He made sure that everyone within the group knew about his dog Sam also.
Jeep was preceded in death by his parents Orman Groff Sr, and Joetta Groff. Also, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
