Ordie A. Shrewsbury

Ordie A. Shrewsbury, 85, of MacArthur, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2009 at the Veterans Area Medical Center. Born July 9, 1924 at Odd, WV, he was the son of the late H.D. and Lausie A. Cunningham Shrewsbury. Mr. Shrewsbury was a retired engineer for Norfolk and Western Railway serving for over 37 years. He was a member of the Mabscott Christian Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Stephen Shrewsbury in 2001, sisters; Athelene Turcham, Lenore Suddreth, Lana Walker Smith, Emma Christian and a brother Earl Shrewsbury.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Sue Nichols Shrewsbury, son, Frederick Wayne Shrewsbury of MacArthur, grandchildren; Eric Shrewsbury and wife Jamie of Beckley and Ryan Shrewsbury and wife Kelly of Beckley, Tonya Kay and husband Joe of Beckley, great-granddaughter, Leigha Shrewsbury, sister, Eula Samples of MI and brother, Henry Drexel Shrewsbury, Jr. of CA.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2009 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Doug Holley and Pastor Harmon Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Monte Vista Park Cemetery, Princeton. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to service on Thursday.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
