Nancy Wickham of Beckley died at her home at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2010 after a long illness.
She was born in West Chester, PA on August 5, 1916, the daughter of the late Thomas H. Wickham and Louise Bates Wickham. She attended Beckley public schools and graduated from Stuart Hall in Staunton, VA in 1935. She was a lifetime member of the Beckley Presbyterian Church and a member of its Supper Circle. She also attended the Wednesday evening dinners and bible study at the church. She was a loyal supporter of the Beckley Community Concert Association, of which her mother was a founder. Nancy was an avid bridge player and traveler up until the last few years.
She is survived by her god-daughter, Sharon Hayes of California, MD, devoted care-givers, Lawanda Cooper, Joyce Bailey, Janice Wyatt, Zita Murdock, Mary Moore and Deborah Asbury and loving friends, William A. Banks of Alexandria, VA and Peggy White.
In accordance with her wishes, graveside rites will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 27, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum B, the Rev. William dePrater officiating.
