Nancy Elizabeth Kelley Vaughan, 85, of Beckley, WV, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2020.
She was the daughter of Lucille Weaver Kelley Lyons and Roy Jackson Kelley. Nancy grew up in Pineville, WV, and Beckley, WV where she graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. After graduating she worked for Department of Employment Security and Army Reserve Center.
Nancy married James (Jim) F. Vaughan, Jr. on April 25, 1959, and they remained in Beckley raising their three children. One of her hobbies was genealogy and she spent countless hours and miles tracing her family’s roots. She acquired a large collection of history and stories while discovering family members throughout WV and VA. Family reunions were one of her favorite family events.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jim, parents, brothers Edwin, Jack, Shirly and sister Mary Lou. Nancy is survived by daughter Nancy Jane Broadwell (Tommy), sons Frank and Clark. Two grandchildren Jason Knoernschild (Leslie) and Carrie Knoernschild, a great-grandchild due in September 2020 (Jason and Leslie), step-grandchildren Jarratt and Katie Broadwell. Along with her sisters Sue Lilly and family, and Harriett Booth and family.
The family held a private graveside service on Friday, April 10, 2020 at Calfee Cemetery with the assistance of Calfee Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held in the summer for friends and family.
