On February 16, 2012 at 7:10 p.m. at Bowers Hospice House, Nancy Carolyn Buckland Brierley won her battle with cancer and Alzheimer’s as she entered into heaven to be with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ. Born march 29, 1934 in Beckley, she was the daughter of the Carl and Lucille Finch Buckland. She was a 1952 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and a graduate of Marshall University. She was employed by the C&P Telephone Co. and the Raleigh County Board of education. She met and married her husband, James E. Brierley in 1974. She attended Crab Orchard Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Beckley.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James; sister, Mary Katherine Prentice; and two brothers, Dale and Harry Buckland.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Fayette Nursing and Rehab and Bowers Hospice House for their love and excellent care of Mrs. Brierley.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son Jeb and his wife Melissa; four granddaughters, Tabitha, Savannah, Lilly and Raya; a grandson, Noah; sister-in-law, Wanda Buckland of FL; cousin, Betty Brubeck of Beckley and various nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 20 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Sisson officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Vance, Mike Vance, Doug Cox, Jason Ellison, Ramie Goddard, Greg Kade, Rick Talley and Dennis Beasley.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Brierley family in care of Calfee Funeral Home to help with expenses.
