Muriel Yvonne Meador Kincaid, 96, passed away in Beckley, WV on November 20, 2024.

 She was born on Beach Run Mountain, Summers County November 25, 1927 to Oscar Meador and Zella Lilly Meador. Her caring grandparents were Jeff and Roxie Lilly, Carl and Lennie (Harvey) Meador.

 Preceded in death by her husband Clarence “Bob” Kincaid, son Keith Kincaid, grandson Clifford Keith Mangum, parents, brothers: Oscar Meador Jr. (wife Gaye) and Jarrell Meador (wife Anna Lee)., beloved mother-in law Bessie Kincaid, in-laws: Mary Houchins (Bill), Evelyn Blair (Elmer), Mildred Cornett (Calvin), Wilma Kincaid (Charles Bell), special friend Dennis Stone, numerous cherished neighbors (Yon family, Angie Meadows, son-in-law, Sam Sanna, friends and church family.

 She is survived by her beloved daughters Beverly Sanna and Holly Bess Kincaid (caregiver).

Grandchildren: Scott Mangum (Sarah), Britt Higginbotham (Jeremy), Brian Kincaid, Kara Scurlock (Brian).

Great Grandchildren: Tori Smith (Brandon), Tristan Mangum, Colby and Callie Kincaid, Christian, Katelynn and Samuel Higginbotham, Skyler Allen, Levi and Violet Scurlock. Great Great Grandchildren: Everleigh and Easton Smith.

She also leaves behind many precious nieces and nephews, neighbors, church family and her community of educators and friends.

Her 32 years of service as an educator in Raleigh County Schools reflected her unwavering dedication to her community. A lifelong advocate for children, women, and policy change, she worked tirelessly to pave the way for others and create positive impacts in her community. One of her greatest joys was working with the earth, planting flowers and trees to beautify her surroundings.

A firm believer in the power of education, she earned a Master’s degree plus 30 additional credits, specializing in Secondary English, Math, General Science, and Elementary Education. Over the course of her career, she taught at Stoco Elementary, Sophia High, Beckley Jr. High, and Park Junior High, where she made a lasting impact on her students and colleagues. As a young working mother, she balanced her responsibilities by carpooling to Concord to complete her degree. Her excellence as an educator earned her the title of County Teacher of the Year and the deep respect of her peers.

She was an active member of the Parent Teacher Association, the Raleigh County Teachers Association, and served as President of the Raleigh County Classroom Teachers Association. Additionally, she was a dedicated member of the Orchard Valley Woman's Club, where she further contributed to her community.

She held a special place in her heart for her Crab Orchard Baptist Church family and cherished the connections she shared with her loved ones. Known for her thoughtfulness, she took joy in sending cards and sharing meaningful visits with family and friends.

 A celebratory Funeral service will be at 1pm Monday, November 25, 2024 (her birthday) at Calfee Funeral home in Beckley, WV with Pastors Dr. Bush, Dr. Sisson, and Dewey Lowe. Pallbearers will be Jeremy and Christian Higginbotham, Scott and Tristan Mangum, Levi Scurlock, Brian Kincaid. Friends may visit with the family from 11 am until the time of the service. Graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park.
