Minta Pearl Persinger, 90, of Mabscott, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017. Born May 30, 1927 in Sand Branch she was the daughter of the late Lonnie and Lottie Plumley. Besides her parents Minta was preceded in death by her husband, John Logan Persinger; her first husband, Dewey Hicks; daughter, Geraldine Gray and son, John Cameron Persinger.
Minta was a homemaker and longtime member of the Crab Orchard Tabernacle. She was a very devoted and active member of the church where she played the guitar, sang in the choir and on their radio show.
Survivors include her sons, Michael Harvey Hicks and his wife Kathy of Cool Ridge and Carlos Ray Hicks and his wife Sue of North Sand Branch; daughter, Stella Bair and her husband James of Daniels; grandchildren, Lisa, Sheila, Chris, Douglas, Travis, Michelle, Sheila, Billy Ray, Tammy, Steven, Thomas, Kimberly, Chad and Ciera; sisters, Mae, Emma and Hatti; brother, Emmett and 27 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11am Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Calfee funeral Home with Pastors Donna Waddell, Billy Waddell, Jr. and Clarence Plumley. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family Friday from 6-9pm at Calfee funeral home.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
