On Sunday, January 3rd, 2010, Mildred Robertson went to meet the Lord. She passed quietly and comfortably after a full life and a long bout with Alzheimer’s disease. She will be sadly missed by all whose lives she touched.
Born in Macalpin WV on Oct. 24th 1925 to her parents, Everette and Nellie Aldridge, “Millie” graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1944. Mildred met and married CPL. Ralph Thomas Robertson her senior year, and started a large and loving family.
Mildred was one of those people who brought joy to all who surrounded her. She could concoct a culinary masterpiece from leftovers in the fridge, entertain a child all day with an empty butter dish, and teach you right from wrong with just a look.
Over the years Mildred wore many hats. She was a homemaker first, but was also employed at G.C. Murphy, and as a part time housekeeper for friends and family and no matter how hard or long she toiled, her infectious smile and caring demeanor won her the love of all she encountered.
Mildred’s faith was a prominent aspect in her life. She was a long standing member of the Cross Point Church of God. During which time, she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and was President of the “Women of the Church of God group.”
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, a son (Michael Thomas Robertson), and a beloved grandaughter (Pamela Kay Robertson.)
She is survived by her children; John Robertson of Erie, PA, Donna Richmond of Piney View, WV, and daughter Mickie and husband Samuel Seletyn of Cumberland, MD. Her brothers and sisters; Ruby Jones of Rock Hill SC, Velva Adkins of Talbot TN, Jane and husband Bill Wright of Beckley WV, Dean and husband Russell Floyd of Mabscott WV, Frank and wife Margaret Aldridge of Tupelo WV, Ernie Aldridge of Morristown TN and Carolyn Watson of Mount Holly NC, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
As angels fall, so may they rise.
