Born in Tams, WV on May 27, 1926, Mike was the son of the late John and Susie Vargo Rahall. He graduated from Mark Twain High School and attended Beckley College. Mr. Rahall served his country in the Philippines and Japan as a member of the U.S. Army during WW II. retired from Westmoreland Coal Co. after 38 years of servioce, Mr. Rahall held the position of superintendent of both Eccles mines and was Director of the Health and Safety Dept. for the Winding Gulf Division. He was also a respected member of the Westmoreland mine rescue/first-aid team that received numerous awards for their superior ability and dedicated service. He was a member of the UMWA, attended St. Francis deSales catholic Church and was an original founder of St. Francis School. Mr. Rahall was also preceded in death by his youngest son, Jeffery Mark, whose young life was taken by Cystic Fibrosis.
