Proverbs 31:28 “Her children arise and call her blessed.”
On September 10th, 2017, Matilda Mahala Daniels, 95 of Fairdale, left this life to join her Savior and family members who went before her.
She was born on August 25, 1922 to the late
Oscar and Virgie Johnson. She was the oldest of twelve children, all who preceded her in death except two brothers, Herman and Clinton Johnson. Also going before her in death was her husband of 47 years, Earl, and their daughter, Virginia and her son-in-law, Daryl Travis.
She devoted her life to those left to share her memory, her children: Earl Eastridge (Ruth) of Killen, AL, Priscilla Gibson (Van) of Brookwood, AL, Shirlene Sizemore (James) of Berry AL, Donna Worley of Glen Daniel, WV, Cecil Daniels (Angela) of Bolt, WV, Elaine Helton (Wilbourne) of Brookwood, AL, Elizabeth Ellis (Kennith) of Glen Daniel, WV, Ronald Daniels (Desiree) of Fairdale, WV, Sarah Baines (Heath) of Millport, AL, Chuck Daniels (Sherry) of Fairdale, WV and Debra Adkins (James) of Beckley, WV.
Her legacy will certainly continue through others sharing her love: her 24 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandsons. She will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, and a host of lifelong friends.
Her signature gift of love and joy were her quilts which she shared with each family member and her dear friends.
The service will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, September 13th, at Breckenridge Missionary Baptist Church in Bolt WV, where she was a member with Pastor Dewey Lowe officiating. The body will lie in state one hour before the service. Friends and Family may call from 6:00 – 9:00 pm at the church on Tuesday, September 12th. Burial will follow in the Daniels’ Cemetery at Fairdale.
Pallbearers will be her sons-in-law, Van Gibson, James Sizemore, Kennith Ellis, James Adkins, Wilbourne Helton, and Heath Baines.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital where Matilda was a lifelong contributor.
Arrangements by Calfee Funeral Home, Beckley.
