Mary K. Venable, 89, of Coal City, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Bowers Hospice House. Born May 16, 1920 at Ballard, WV, she was the daughter of the late John Amos and Viva Holdren Thompson. Mary was a homemaker and had been a resident of Raleigh County since 1948. She was a member and former secretary of Mabscott Christian Baptist Church and a member of the Coal City Homemakers Club. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Venable in 1991, two brothers; Aubrey and John Thompson and a sister, Geneva Cadle.
Survivors include sons; Randall Venable and wife Donna, and Richard Venable all of Coal City, grandchildren; Randall Venable, II and his wife Allie, Angela Priddy and husband Frank all of Beckley, great-grandchildren; Myles and Ethan Venable, Zack, Alexis and Karlie Priddy of Beckley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 2010 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Harmon Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday.
