Martha S. Gillespie

Martha S. “Marty” Gillespie, 82, of Beckley, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2010 at Bowers Hospice House following a long illness. Born March 3, 1928 in Guam, she was the daughter of the late Capt. Tyler W. Spear (USN) and Cora R. Wickes Spear. She was of the Episcopal faith, a homemaker, and lived in the Beckley area for the past 20 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Martha J. Fite of Beckley, and Karen G. Seiler and her husband Mark of Uniontown, OH; one son, Louis R. Jones of Commerce City, CO; grandchildren, Robert W. Fite of Okeechobee, FL, Tyler L. Jones of Gainesville, FL, Matthew William Brown of Akron, OH, Alicia Marie Hood and her husband Jordan of Akron, OH; great grandchildren, Sadey Nicole Fite of Okeechobee, FL, and Marilyn Mae Hood of Akron, OH; one great-great-grandchild, Lillianna Fite of Okeechobee, FL; one sister, Nancy Jane Britton and her husband Tom of Atlanta, GA; and best friend, Clara Peagler of Pensacola, FL.
Graveside services will be held on 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 4, 2010, at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley, with Pastor Vondie Cook, Sr. officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Dr., Beckley, WV 25801.
