Mark Steven Walker, 64, of Grandview, West Virginia, went to be seated beside his Most High King on Monday, June 7, 2021 at Bowers Hospice House following a brief battle with brain cancer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willis A. Walker; aunt, Jeannette Cook; and dear cousin, John Walker. He is survived by his mother, Nola Ann Walker; wife, Libbi Walker; two brothers, Paul Walker and Jeff Walker and their families; his children and stepchildren, Sara Foster, Troy Walker, David Walker Dykes, Ashley Cox, and Becca Pearman and their families; and his grandchildren.
Born on April 29, 1957 to Willis A. and Nola Ann (Sweeney) Walker in Beckley, WV, he was a 1975 graduate of Shady Spring High School, where he was the captain of the basketball team and a member of the football team. He was voted “best pal” in his senior yearbook and went on to be a dear friend to many throughout the years.
He graduated from his beloved Marshall University and became one of the most loyal sons of Marshall, later serving as a member of the Beckley Big Green Chapter.
He worshipped at Faith Community Church and in his spare time he enjoyed going to Marshall football games with his family, golfing with his buddies, and spending countless hours faithfully tending to his beautiful yard and garden.
Mark was one of the kindest souls you could ever meet, always putting others before himself and serving his community. Best known for his practical jokes and big belly laugh that filled the room, he would often leave you laughing until you cried. Even on tough days, he always had a kind word to share with anyone.
Public services will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Faith Community Church located at 299 Grey Flats Rd, Beckley, WV 25801. A viewing will take place from 11:00am - 1:00pm with a memorial service at 1:00pm. A private burial for family will follow. The service will be livestreamed at: https://my.gather.app/remember/mark-walker-2021
