Margaret (Peggy) Lilian Giompalo, 61, of 108 Goldcrest Drive, Beckley, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2010 in the Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital, following a long illness. Born January 13, 1949, in Beckley, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Ival Brown and Margaret Kennedy Brown. She attended Marshall University where she received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts. She retired after working 33 years as a rehabilitation counselor with the West Virginia Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. She was a lifelong resident of Beckley.
Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Joseph A. Giompalo, one son, Joseph Anthony Giompalo of Beckley, and a twin sister, Elizabeth (Betsy) A. Preuss and her husband John of St. Augustine, FL.
A funeral liturgy will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at the St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, with Father Joshua Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Calfee Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 8:00 p.m. led by Rev. Mr. Don Wise.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
