Madalene Mae Vaughan, 91, of Beckley, WV, left her earthly home and family on December 25 to be reunited with her beloved husband of 51 years, Dr. Paul E. Vaughan. She was born April 20, 1926 at Montcalm, WV, the daughter of the late Chester Vanhook Miller and Evie Alma Sublett Miller. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many. Madalene’s life was completely committed to the Lord, her husband, her family and friends.
She faithfully attended the First Christian Church of Beckley and served in many capacities including Sunday school teacher and Elder. She graduated from the Raleigh General Hospital School of Nursing in 1947 receiving her RN degree.
Madalene is survived by her sons, Paul Michael “Mike” and his wife Delores of Beckley, David B. and his wife Barbara of Fredericksburg, VA and Richard A. of Morgantown, WV; grandchildren, Ashlee Vaughan of Barboursville, WV, Stephanie Snead and her husband Chris of Raleigh, NC and Jennifer Abderrazak and her husband Hassan of Windermere, FL, Jessica Vaughan, stationed in Japan and Lauren Vaughan of Richmond, VA; great grandchildren, Tristan Vaughan, Alyssa Benton, Jackson Adkins, Kaitlyn Snead, Haley Snead, Kenza Abderrazak and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Madalene was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Paul E. Vaughan in 2000, sister Rosalee Duncan and brother Curtis Miller.
Funeral services will be held at Calfee Funeral Home at 1 pm on Thursday, December 28 with Pastor Don Snyder officiating. Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm on Thursday, December 28. A private, family only, committal will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
