Linda Reynolds Harris, 99, of Beckley passed away Sunday, August 10, 2014 at Bowers Hospice House.
Born September 18, 1914 in Falling Springs, VA, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Annie Kimberling Reynolds. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Harris in 1970.
Linda was a registered nurse graduating from Raleigh General Hospital in April 1940. She attended classes in nursing arts and procedures at WVU and classes in microbiology at Mountain State University. She was employed by the U.S. Government during WWII. She was a Raleigh County School nurse for seven years and retired from the UMWA. Linda was a member of First United Methodist Church and Circle #1 at the church. She received her 50 year service pin from the National Red Cross for her volunteer service.
She is survived by her daughter Linda Egnor and her husband Dallas of Abbeville, SC; grandson, Brian Hankins and his wife Missy; great-granddaughter, Megan Hankins and step-great grandchildren, Maxwell and Madison all of Huntington, WV. She is also survived by her special friends, Cathie Sparks, Patricia Harrison, Mickie Sweeney, Rick and Londa Pittman.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2014 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rick Waller officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may gather with the family from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Dr., Beckley, WV 25801.
