It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Mrs. Linda Donice Blair, 73, of Martinsburg, WV (formerly Beckley, WV) on May 30, 2022.
Born in Glen White, WV in 1949 to Don and Violet Chamberlain, Linda grew up in the Sophia area of Raleigh County. She was a 1967 graduate of Sophia High School where she was lauded for her beauty and congeniality by her peers. A graduate of Beckley Beauty Academy, she earned a beautician license in 1968. Many people in life don’t have the opportunity to spend their career pursing work that is also their passion, but Linda was incredibly blessed to spend over 40 years as a hair stylist and owner of three different beauty salons in Beckley, WV. Linda skillfully transformed thousands of women over the years into the most beautiful versions of themselves all the while lending an empathetic ear to their troubles. Linda didn’t only just see beauty in fashion and style, she also loved the beauty in nature as an avid flower gardener. She loved admiring beauty in scenery during long car rides. A talented baker, she had a knack for making delicious desserts that were always a hit at every party and event she baked for. Linda most loved spending time with her family and friends. She spent many years proudly cheering her son Lee on during his baseball career and volunteered her time working in countless concession stands. Linda will be missed for her infectious laugh, beautiful smile, and her deep steadfast love of her family.
Linda leaves behind her husband of 53 years Dennis Lee Blair of Martinsburg, WV; son Dennis “Lee” Blair Jr., and daughter-in-love Shannon Blair of Martinsburg, WV; sisters Tammy McKinney of Beckley, WV and Wanda Chamberlain of Huntington, WV; brother Dr. Don Chamberlain and sister-in-law Martha Chamberlain of Murray, KY; and many other family members and loved ones including her niece Sarah Dyke of Charlotte, NC, and nephews Austin McKinney and Derek McKinney of Johnson City, TN, and Mark Chamberlain (wife Lori) of Nashville, TN.
A funeral service celebrating Linda’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum # 3 with Pastor Vondie L. Cook, II officiating.
The family extends our sincere gratitude to all those who cared for Linda during her last few years. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Linda’s honor to help advance research against Alzheimer’s disease by visiting the Alzheimer’s Association website at www.alz.org.
