Lewis Buchanan

Lewis Campbell Buchanan, 84, of Beaver, passed away Monday, April 16, 2012 at Bowers Hospice House.

Born September 10, 1927 he was the son of the late Garland and Olga McCall Buchanan. Lewis was owner and CEO of Buchanan Corporation, Lilly Ice & Bottling Works, Ashland Gas, Beckley Oil, Stevens Gas, Caldwell Gas Service and Buchanan Trucking. He was a member of Beckley Elks Lodge and Beckley Moose Lodge. He was a sportsman and loved playing golf. He was a beloved grandfather. In addition to his parents he as preceded in death by his son, Larry L. Buchanan; step-son, Michael Bell; great-grandson, Brian Scott Hancock and a brother, Garland “Lugene” Buchanan.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce L. Buchanan; daughters, Sherry Via and husband Roger of Richmond, KY, Carolyn Via of Beckley, WV; brother, William A. “Bill” Buchanan of Beckley; grandsons, Brian “Kip” Buchanan and wife Heather and Scott Buchanan and wife Jennifer o Beckley, Brett Buchanan and fianc Ivy Sowers of Bastian, VA, Ronnie E. Hancock and wife Jennifer of White Sulphur Springs, WV, Thomas and Michael Bell of Coal City, WV; granddaughters, Michelle Denny and husband Brian of Richmond, VA, Angela Hairston and husband David of Ona, WV, Vicki Hutchinson and husband Mike of Summersville, WV, Rae Anna Fields and husband Dean of Richmond, KY, Jennifer Whitley and husband Mark of Fayetteville, WV; great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Alex, Tanner, Chase, Gracyn, Nathan, Corey, Madison, Bryley, Brennan and Noah and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Thursday.

Pallbearers will be Kip, Scott and Brett Buchanan, Brian Denny, David Hairston, Mike Hutchinson, Roger Via, Larry Darlington, Eldon Garten.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chase and Tanner Buchanan, Charlie Houck and Pete Torrico.
