Lawrence Willard Meadows

Our beloved Lawrence W. Meadows, Jr., 70, left this earthly home for his heavenly home on September 28, 2014 at UVA hospital in Charlottesville, VA.
Lawrence was an active member of Calvary Assembly of God and also attended Mabscott Christian Baptist Church. He was a member of the Beckley Shepherd Center of which he was on the board of directors, member of NRA, CERTS, Raleigh County Historical Society, Friends of the Library, Moose Club, Raleigh County Commission on Aging History Class, YMCA member, Raleigh County Retired School Personnel, Senior Friends of Raleigh General Hospital and Well I'll Be of Appalachian Hospital.
Lawrence was a history buff and could tell history facts all day. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. His greatest thrill was enjoying nature at its best.
He was a retired school bus operator after 41 years of service and also substituted some because of his love of children. He was a member of the Mabscott Volunteer Fire Dept. for many years and served as fire chief during that period.
He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Sandra Meadows; sister-in-law, Deborah Brown and her husband, Carroll of Saulsville. He is also survived by many cousins including Barbara Lilly, Ella Mae Hall and Robert Crotty. He had many friends and was always ready to make more.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Calvary Assembly of God with Pastor John Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the church and one hour prior to service on Thursday.
Friends will serve as pallbearers.
