Lavada Louise Whitt

March 4, 1974 — August 29, 2024

Mt. Hope, WV

Lavada Louise Whitt age 50, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was a beloved mother, wife, sister and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Lavada was born on March 4, 1974, in West Virginia where she spent her formative years. Lavada was a life-long teacher. Early in her career she specialized in providing career building education that enriched the lives of thousands of people. She continued in her calling of education by providing life-altering training and awareness to women and girls as the President of the Fayette County Right to Life. She went on to attend Western Governors University, where she earned a master’s degree in special education. She then affected and enriched the lives of young people as a teacher in both Fayette and Raleigh Counties. If she knew, coached or taught your children you can know that she loved them with all her heart.

But more than anything, Lavada was a Christian, a devoted wife, and mother. She was a 20-year member of Mt Hope United Methodist Church. She loved spending time with her sons, sharing stories, playing games, and most importantly bringing them up with God’s Word, always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement, no matter what challenges they faced.

In her free time, Lavada enjoyed art and was always eager to share her knowledge and enthusiasm with others. She was an active member of her community, volunteering for various causes and organizations.

Lavada is preceded in death by her mother, Linda Carr. She is survived by her loving husband, Jack Whitt Jr., her children, Abram Whitt, Aaden Whitt, her father Leonard Carr, her brothers Ike (Melinda) Carr, John Carr, her sisters Linda Pittman, Heather (Rivers) Roark, and many friends and family. Her memory will be cherished by all who know her.

The Family would like to extend a special thanks to Randi and Cassie from Hospice of Beckley, Dr. Stephen Bush and staff of Charleston, WV, Charlie’s Angels (Patti, Heather, Kylie) and to all the friends for helping the family through our hours of bereavement.

Family and friends can visit Calfee Funeral Home at 800 S. Oakwood Ave. Beckley, WV 25801 on Tuesday September 3, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. The family will be celebrating her life by wearing her favorite color, purple.
