Surrounded at home by her loving family, Lana Dale Sears, age 74, of Coal City, WV, went peacefully to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, following a sudden illness.
Born January 28, 1942, in Jonben, WV, she was the daughter of the late Orville Lawson and Audrey Florine Mills Hughes and the stepdaughter of Basil Hughes.
A beloved homemaker, Lana was also a talented artist who enjoyed bowling, the Gaithers and baking. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and church family.
A faithful member of Sunset Hills Missionary Baptist Church in Coal City, Lana had a desire to see all come to know Jesus Christ as their personal savior. She was a strong woman of character and of faith and was truly loved and respected by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents and stepfather, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lonnie Dale Workman, and an infant daughter, Sandra Kay.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 48 years, Lundy “L.W.” Sears; her daughter, Tammy Lambert and husband, Kenny, of Sophia; granddaughters, Heather Bolen and husband, Doug, of Josephine and Mari Yost and husband, Corey, of Crab Orchard; great grandchildren, Audri, Chance and Bailee Bolen and Lailyn and Landry Yost; brothers, Rusty Lawson (Debra), Gary Lawson (Diana), Lyndel Lawson (Mona); stepbrothers, Orville Hughes (Tina), Gary Hughes (Neda), Anthony Hughes (Martha); stepsisters, Melissa Sheehan, Vanessa Hughes, Ruby Mahan and Patty Sears (Clarence); special friends, Barbara Hopkins, Tim and Rose Pompie, Rita Crawford and Erma and Fred Graham. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
Services celebrating her life will be held Saturday, January 7, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the Sunset Hills Missionary Baptist Church at 1100 Independence Road, Coal City, with Pastors Tim Mitchem and Mel Jameson officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity, WV.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
