Kathryn Lee Silosky Saddler

November 6, 1978 — April 29, 2020

With great sadness we share the passing of our dear Katie, beloved daughter, mother and sister. She was born November 6, 1978 in Sewickley, Pa. and moved to Daniels, WV with her family in 1980. She was a graduate of Shady Spring High School and Mountain State University. She worked for many years in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography department at MSU as the administrative assistant and continued in the same position at the University of Charleston in Beckley. In 2018, she began working for the Raleigh County Sheriff's Department as a tax department deputy. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, Beckley, WV.
For the past three years, she bravely battled cervical cancer through chemotherapy, radiation, immuno-therapy and several surgeries. During this time she also continued to work for as long as possible. Early in her illness, she coached her daughters' volleyball team at St. Francis De Sales school. She was active in supporting and encouraging her children's academic, athletic and Catholic youth development activities.
She was a proud and devoted mom to Bella, Sophie and Andrew and devoted sister to Bess, Ann and Pete. She loved her large family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and niece.
She was preceded in death by husband Leslie (Jay) Saddler and by Donald Baker; her grandparents Ralph and Maxine Viola, Audrey and Pete Silosky; aunt and godmother Marie Viola and uncle Steve Mastalski, all of Pennsylvania.
Those left to honor her memory and celebrate her loving heart are: her parents James and Victoria Viola Silosky of Daniels, WV; her children: Isabella Grace Saddler, Sophia Madelyn Saddler and Andrew James Baker; sisters Elizabeth (Anthony) Moore, Fayetteville, NC; Ann (Hendrik) Silosky Neubert of Berlin, Germany, and Peter Silosky of Daniels. Nephews Max and Dominic Moore and Jacob Neubert. Aunts and uncles Joseph & Paulette Viola, Slippery Rock, Pa., Gina and Russell Curl, Zelienople, Pa., Christina and Rick Starcher, Monaca, Pa., Diana and Mike Del Sota, Beaver, Pa., Kathy Mastalski, Titusville, Pa, Dan Silosky, E.Rochester, Pa, and Steve Silosky of Chicago. Parents-in -law Deborah and Les Saddler, Ghent, WV, Rita and Ken Antinoro, Lewisburg, WV, Debbie and Don Baker, Wellsburg, WV; sister-in-law Heather (Doug) Lilly of Daniels, WV and their children.
We, her family, give special thanks to: Dr. El-Harake, Dr. Shimm, Dr. Dababnah and Dr. McBee; the nursing staff at the Carl Larson Cancer Center, especially Nathan, Trina, Billie and Jesse; the Sheriff of Raleigh County, Scott Van Meter and his staff including Katie's supervisor Cindy and her staff of Kim, Jackie, Sarah, Angie, Tina and Ashley for their kindness and constant support throughout her cancer fight; the kindness, sacramental and spiritual support of Fr. Paul Wharton and the love of the faculty and staff at St. Francis De Sales Catholic School; and to all our friends that offered prayers and support, especially those on Lee Avenue, Daniels.
Katie's favorite phrase throughout her ordeal and the many operations and procedures was, "It'll be OK" - everlasting words of hope and unbelievable courage.
Due to current circumstances, services will be private. At a later date, there will be a celebration of Katie's life.
