After nearly 70 years of walking on this earth with the Lord, Kathleen Patricia (St. Clair) Armentrout, 74, of Daniels, WV, entered heaven on Tuesday, December 13th, 2022.
She was born on June 21, 1948, in San Francisco, California, and was preceded in death by her father, James E. St. Clair, and numerous beloved aunts and uncles.
She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1966 and received her Bachelor’s Degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1970, and her Master’s Degree from Marshall University/COGS.
She worked for FMRS Mental Health Systems for over 40 years in many capacities before retiring as the Associate Director in 2017. Her love for Jesus spilled over into her work, where she was instrumental in helping countless people with drug addiction and mental health issues.
While attending West Virginia Wesleyan, she met the love of her life, Richard E. (“Frog”) Armentrout, and they celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on October 12, 2022. Their marriage was a picture of unconditional love, and was filled with tenderness, laughter, and joy.
Kathy, or “Bup” as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren, seemed to have an inexhaustible supply of energy for her family, friends, neighbors, and her church family from Memorial Baptist Church. She had been a member of Memorial Baptist Church since 1978, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, served as a camp counselor, and was involved in practically all other aspects of church life. She was known as someone who loved the Scriptures and talked continually with the Lord in prayer.
Kathy loved big Christmases and annual beach vacations. She enjoyed hosting family and friends for routine cookouts and holidays. She invested her life in caring for people, and accepted others with love and understanding. She had an uncanny way of making friends with strangers, whether in the grocery line or in a doctor’s waiting room, simply by showing that she was interested in their life and asking how she could pray for them.
She is survived by her husband, Richard E. Armentrout; her children, Debbi Mills and husband Joe, Susan Armentrout, and Tim Armentrout; grandchildren, Erin Botzenhart and husband Matt, Katie Mills, Kelly Mills, Ayrella Armentrout, Garren Armentrout, Jacob Armentrout, Jude Armentrout, Griffin Armentrout; great granddaughter, Maddie Botzenhart; her brother James E. St. Clair and wife Anne Marie, and many cousins and extended family members.
We who are left behind are comforted in knowing that the brightness of Heaven is being magnified by Kathy’s presence.
Her remarkable life will be celebrated at noon on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Memorial Baptist Church in Beckley, West Virginia, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the family cemetery in Burnsville, West Virginia.
