Julius Elwood Cox, 81, of Crab Orchard, died Monday, December 11, 2017. Born October 19, 1936 at Blue Jay, he was the son of the late Homer Johnson and Maude Meadows Cox.
Julius was a retired cement mason for Roberts and Schaefer Construction. He was a member of Beaver Baptist Church. He enjoyed metal detecting, hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Hershel, Howard and Eugene Cox and a sister, Rosella Lilly.
Survivors include his wife, Shelva Jean Persinger Cox; sons, Gregory Alan Cox, Sr. of Eccles, Jeffrey Duane Cox of Crab Orchard; grandchildren, Gregory Alan, Jr., Tiffany, Sonya and Alex; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth; sister, Maxine Crews of Beaver and brothers, Ray Cox and wife Betty and Melvin Cox and wife Sara both of Beaver.
Funeral services will be 1 pm Wednesday, December 13, 2017 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to service on Wednesday.
