Joy Belle Bailey, 72, of Oak Hill, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2014 at the Bowers Hospice House. Born January 9, 1942 in Beckley, she was the daughter of the late Jesse J. and Ruby Lee Lilly Furrow. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Wayne Furrow and a brother-in-law, Lewis Redden.
Joy was a retired operations manager for the West Virginia Parkways Authority. She was a member of the Pemberton Missionary Baptist Church. Joy enjoyed shopping, traveling and spending time with her family. She was a former resident of Roanoke, VA, residing in Beckley for the past 35 years.
Survivors include her husband, Franklin D. Bailey; daughter, Janet B. Gray of Daniels, WV and long time partner, Gregory Keaton; Siblings, Joan Redden, James A. Furrow, Roger D. Furrow; sisters-in-law, Jean Furrow, Patty Furrow and Margie Furrow; grandchildren, Jessica, Eric, Steven, Farris, Erick; great-grandchildren, Haley, Kaitlyn, Mason, Malean and little Greg; 10 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2014 in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Ford officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Private interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Joe Rakes, Roger Furrow, Jr., Randy Redden, Steven Redden, Steven Keaton and Eric Duncan.
