Joseph David Green
June 10, 1950 – February 17, 2025
With hearts full of love and cherished memories, we mourn the passing of Joseph David Green, who left this world on February 17, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Joe touched the lives of so many with his warmth, humor, and gentle spirit.
Joe was born on June 10, 1950, in Welch, West Virginia, where he learned the values of hard work, resilience, and family—values he carried throughout his life. He worked as a coal miner and later as a courier, always providing for his loved ones with quiet strength and unwavering dedication. But beyond his work, Joe found his greatest joy in life’s simple pleasures—spending time with his family, enjoying the beauty of nature, and sharing laughter with those he loved.
He was a man of great humor, always ready with a quick wit or a lighthearted remark that could brighten any day. His protective nature and strong presence were balanced by a heart as soft as a teddy bear’s, always putting his family first and offering them love and security.
Joe had a deep appreciation for life’s small, meaningful moments—long car rides through the countryside, music that spoke to the soul, the salty breeze of the beach, and the nostalgia of antique car shows. He was a man who loved working with his hands, whether fixing something around the house or creating something special. Animals and nature held a special place in his heart, reminding him of the beauty and simplicity of life.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Stone Green; his daughters, Jeanna Green McIntyre and Heather Green; his cherished granddaughter, Ella Elisabeth McIntyre; his daughter’s partner, Vincent Lineberry, and granddaughters Georgia Lineberry and Reagan Lineberry, who were a cherished part of his extended family; his brother, Lowell Green; his sisters, Freeda Brown, Patricia Green, and Ann Warren; Many extended family members and dear friends will carry his memory in their hearts forever.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at Calfee Funeral Home, 800 South Oakwood Avenue, Beckley, WV with Pastor Tim Mitchem officiating. Joe will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Mausoleum 3, where he will find eternal peace surrounded by the mountains he loved.
In honor of Joe’s memory, the family encourages acts of kindness, a heartfelt laugh, or simply taking a moment to appreciate the beauty in everyday life—just as he did so effortlessly. His legacy is one of love, warmth, and joy. This gentle man will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Rest easy, Joe. Your love and laughter will echo in our hearts forever.
