John Thomas

John W. Thomas, 95, of Princeton, WV, went home to see the Lord on May21, 2022. He was born December 15, 1926, in Yeager, WV.  The son of Bo and Katie (Addair) Thomas.

John, also lovingly known as JW, enlisted at 16 and served for the US Navy in World War II, US Army, Army Reserves, and National Guard. 

A dedicated Christian since his early 20’s, and spending what he also describes as his favorite times  at North East Faith Tabernacle, North East , MD, a member for 35 years.  John was a devoted father and husband of 65 years, and loved to spend time with his five children, 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.  

John was a father to many, and a friend to everyone, and always had a great story to tell.  It wouldn’t be unusual to find John in his truck listening to music and singing, “Ain’t you glad you got salvation!”, and he loved to be around his family laughing and joking.

John loved being outside working in his garden, fishing, and building things.  There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix and could always be counted on to give the best advice.  His style was timeless, and was always the best dressed in the room.

John is preceded in death by his loving wife, Chloie (Falin) Thomas, of 65 years, Son, John D. Thomas, and sisters, Reble Thomas and Lola Mears. He is survived by his children, Robert Thomas, Eugenia Sandy, Jaqueline Murray, and Rebecca Wood.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on May 26, 2022, at Calfee Funeral Home in Beckley, WV Friends may visit with the family from 1-2.  Burial will follow in the Calfee Cemetery at Mt. Tabor.
