John Henry Gorman, 96, born in Elmira NY, passed away on February 20, 2024 in Beaver, West Virginia. He was born on November 10, 1927.
John was a loving father, brother, and husband. He was known for his generosity, concern for others’ well-being, and active involvement in his family, friends, and community. A man of faith and a dedicated member of the communities he resided in, John was respected by many. He found joy and fulfillment in his love for work, Notre Dame, handball, golf and fitness.
John is survived by his daughter, Kerry K. Murdough, his nieces, Kelly Gorman, Rhonda Sevy, Lori Sevy Caldwell and nephews Joe Bergan, Bill Bergan, Dan Bergan and Jeff Sevy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Wood Gorman, his brother, William Gorman, and sisters, Betty Eberhart and Winifred Bergan.
John proudly served in the US Army and was an alumnus of Notre Dame. He worshipped at Saint Francis de Sales.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, February 26, 2024, at Calfee Funeral Home in Beckley, West Virginia from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 7:45 p.m. A funeral liturgy will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church with Monsignor Anthony Cincinnati and father Leonard Smith as celebrants.
