John Dale King, Jr., 28, of Glen Daniel, WV, died Friday, April 23, 2010 in a Charleston hospital from injuries received in a mining accident at ICG Coal. Born January 14, 1982 in York County, SC, he was the son of John Dale and Nancy Head King. John was a coal miner for ICG Coal and a member of the Trap Hill Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing and camping, golf and riding 4-wheelers. John loved fire fighting and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in York, SC and had been a resident of Raleigh County for the past six years. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Aaron and Josephine Head and Earl and Ethel King.
Survivors include his wife, Leona Ramsey King, son, Johnathan Ramsey, daughter, Ashley Ramsey both of Glen Daniel, brothers; Jason King and Jeff King and wife Karen of Clover, SC, Sandy King and wife Donna of King’s Mountain, NC, sisters; Courtney and Whitney King of Rock Hill, SC, sisters-in-law; Lynn Ratliff and husband Jimmy of Glen Daniel and Suanna Martinez of Glen Daniel.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Harper Free Methodist Church, Harper, WV with Pastor Danny Kinder officiating. Burial will follow in the Hall Cemetry at Dameron. Friends may call at the church from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday.
