Joan Maples Beckett

Joan was born march 20, 1933 in Florence, IN. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1952 and attended nursing school at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. She graduated from Marshall University with a BA in Art Education and Biology. She later received a MA in Painting. Joan had a 27 year career teaching Art Appreciation and Biology at Beckley College. Her lifelong joy was her flowers. She belonged to the National Art Education Association, Beckley Women's Club, Delta Kappa Gamma Society and at one time the Beckley Art Group. She was also a member of the Beckley Presbyterian Church.
