Jameel (Jim) Rahall, 77, of Beckley, passed away Saturday July 10, 2010 at a local hospital following a short illness. Born November 18, 1932 in Beckley, he was the son of Lebanese immigrants Abraham Rahall and Farida Rahall. Before retiring he was self-employed as owner and operator of The Slack Rack, a mens clothing store in Beckley. Jim served with the US Army during the Korean War Era. He was a member of the Beckley Moose Lodge. Jim was of the Christian faith, and a lifelong resident of the community.
Survivors include his wife of over 50 years Theresa Rahall, son Tim Rahall and his wife Toni of Beckley, daughters Ann Rahall, M.D. of Maui, Hawaii, and Karan Rahall, who was his caretaker for many years, and her companion Thomas Goodson, Jr. of Beckley, grandsons Connor McKenney, and Michael McKenney of Maui, sisters Jeanette Cormack and her husband Sandy of St. Albans, WV, and Gloria Colby and her husband Jim of Smith Mountain Lake, VA, numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Poo-chi.
Funeral service will be held Thursday July 15, 2010 at 2 p.m., in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Vondie Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Faith Mausoleum. Friends may call Thursday from noon until time of service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Steve Griffith, Carl Daniel, Thomas Goodson, Jr., Michael Acord, Jonathon Cline, and Jim Cormack.
