Jennifer Kay (Hosey) Phalin, 42, of Crab Orchard, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, as the result of a massive stroke.
She was born on November 8, 1982, to John Hosey of Crab Orchard and the late Gaye Sue Hosey. She was a 2001 graduate of Independence High School, where she played softball and made many lifelong friends. It was also during her high school years that she met the love of her life, Joey, while working at Baskin-Robbins. She later graduated from Mountain State University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management. Jennifer was employed by Raleigh County Schools as a school cook. She loved her co-workers and students, and she will be greatly missed by them. She attended Amazing Grace Worship Center in Midway.
Jennifer’s happiest moments were spent standing on the sidelines of any and every field, cheering on her boys and their teams. She was everyone’s biggest fan! Her competitive drive and encouraging words will echo on the field for eternity. The beach was her happy place, and she loved taking quick road trips to laugh and enjoy life with her friends and family. Her loving heart, infectious smile, big hugs, and huge, contagious laugh are forever irreplaceable.
She was preceded in death by her precious mother, Gaye Sue Feamster Hosey, on October 5, 2007. Jennifer never missed a day talking about, honoring, and deeply missing her mom. Also preceding her in death were her paternal grandparents, George and Evelyn Hosey; her maternal grandfather, Dale Feamster; brother-in-law, Willard Adkins; and uncles, Kenneth Hosey and Gary Hosey.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband of 22 years, Joey Phalin; her three sons, whom she adored more than anything, Logan Phalin, Landon Phalin, and Levi Phalin. She loved Logan’s girlfriend, Brooke Stone, as her own. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Josephine McKnight of Whitesville; her maternal grandmother, Barbara Feamster of Brea, California; her brother, Michael Hosey, and sister-in-law, Leigh Ann Hosey, of Shady Spring; her sister, Lora Fisher, and brother-in-law, Rick Fisher, of Beckley; brother-in-law Billy Adkins and his wife Robin; Teddy Phalin and his wife Sabrina. She was deeply loved by her nieces and nephews: Makayla and Tyler Hosey; Kate and Carly Fisher; Ryan, Jesy, Randall, Jackie, Brandi, Julian, Zachary Adkins; DJ, Ashley, Alex, Kira, and Collin Phalin. She also had great-nieces and nephews: Lynzie, Kylee, Brycen, Allie, Felyx, Ryan Jr., Grayson, Jaclynn, Spencer, Nevaeh, Brielynn, and Colton Lee.
Jennifer’s extended family includes her special aunt, Drema Hosey, who was a strong mother figure to Jennifer when she lost her mom; her uncles and their families: Kim and Michelle Feamster of Brea, California; Scott and Sherry Feamster of Canada; Paul and Lara Feamster of Mesa, Arizona; and step-grandmother, Carolyn Feamster of Alderson, WV. She has a host of cousins who she dearly loved and who will also mourn her loss.
She was also very affectionately known as “Aunt Jen Jen” to her sweet “Claire-Bear,” Emma Claire Wood, daughter of her lifelong best friend Becky Wood.
A service to celebrate the life of love that Jennifer lived will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Faith Community Church, 299 Grey Flats Road, Beckley, with Pastor Tommy Dove of Amazing Grace Worship Center and Pastor Jason Lowe of Faith Community Church officiating. Visitation will be at 11:00 AM, with the service beginning at 1:30 PM. A private graveside service for immediate family will follow the services. Her body will be laid to rest at Oak Grove Cemetery in Beckley. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. Funeral arrangements are being provided by Calfee Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the Phalin family requests contributions in Jennifer’s memory be made to the Independence High School Football team for team expenses and gifts of love to those in need, as this was something she deeply cared about. These donations can be mailed to Independence High School, c/o John Lilly, 850 Independence Road, Coal City, WV 25823.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our community, friends, and family, and the Phillip Barbour High School Football program for the outpouring of love, prayers, donations, food, and overwhelming support in our devastating loss. We would also like to thank the CAMC General Neuro ICU nurses, physicians, and staff for the care of Jennifer and her family and friends in her last days here on Earth. We are also forever grateful to the Center of Organ Recovery and Education (C.O.R.E.) for allowing us to honor Jennifer’s wishes to be an organ donor. She has already changed the lives of three families with the selfless gifts of her heart, liver, and kidneys.
