Jean Fletcher Kendrick, 79, of Beckley, WV, formerly of Apex, NC, died Sunday, November 13, 2016 after a long illness.
Jean was born and raised in Grundy, VA and also lived in Welch, WV, Beckley, WV and Apex, NC before returning to Beckley. She had been a member of both Calloway Heights Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Beckley as well as Green level Baptist Church in Cary, NC. She attended Daniels Missionary Baptist Church in Daniels, WV until her health declined. As a church member, Jean took an active interest in youth programs and women’s circles.
It was Jean’s wish that in lieu of flowers donations be made in her memory to DMBC Awana Club, Daniels Missionary Baptist Church, 152 C&O Dam Rd, Daniels, WV 25832.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, David L. Kendrick, Jr. who passed away in 2013 and is survived by her daughter, Kathy Taylor and husband Eddie of Apex, NC; son, Scott Kendrick and wife Rachelle of beaver, WV and five grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Calfee Funeral Home on Thursday, November 17 from 5-7pm followed by a memorial service at 7pm with Pastor Bill Parker officiating. Jean will be interred at Green Level Baptist Church Cemetery in Cary, NC.
